Tier 4 (Child) Student Visas
The process of applying for Tier 4 Child Student Visas requires a large amount of paperwork and strict deadlines. Having an experienced immigration lawyer on hand to help with your application can ensure you can easily secure a Tier 4 Student Visa in the UK for your child.
Parents or guardians of children aged 4-17 can apply for a Tier 4 Child Visa on their behalf so that they can attend school in the UK. There are financial requirements for course fees and accommodation for Tier 4 Child Student Visas, and the visa only applies to children with an unconditional offer to study at an educational institution that holds a Tier 4 Sponsor Licence.
Tier 4 Child Student Visa Financial Requirements
Children under 12 with a parent or guardian migrating to the UK:
- You must demonstrate proof that you have £1560 for each month of the course for a maximum of 9 months
- You must prove that you can also pay any outstanding school fees.
- If you care for any additional children, you must have an additional £625 per month to cover living costs up to a maximum of 9 months.
Children living with a UK carer:
You must demonstrate proof that the carer has a minimum of £570 per month to support the child for up to 9 months.
Children attending boarding school in the UK:
Maintenance is included in boarding school fees, so applicants simply need to prove that they can cover the cost of school fees for the first year of the course.
Children living independently
If your child is 16 or 17 and plans to live independently, you must prove that they have £1,015 per month, or £1265 per month if they are studying in Central London.
It’s important to note that there is a large amount of paperwork required for Tier 4 Child Student Visas and strict timelines and it’s best to work with a UK immigration lawyer to ensure a successful application the first time around.
